Sweeping academic championships

Crusader student-athletes excelled well beyond just the playing fields and gym floors during the 2014-15 season. Last July, Northwest Nazarene University Athletics claimed an unprecedented honor as the Crusaders swept the season-long Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Sports title for the fifth time, tying for the most academic titles in league history.

“This is an incredible accomplishment,” NNU Director of Athletics Kelli Lindley said. “Along with recognizing our student-athletes’ incredible commitment to their sport and in the classroom, this award goes to the faculty, the support staff and coaches who invest so much into the lives of our student-athletes so they can be successful.”

The awards are based on cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on team rosters for the 2014-15 academic year. Ten of NNU’s thirteen GNAC-sponsored sports finished as top three academic teams, leading to NNU’s All-Sport academic sweep.
