NNU’s Department of Music is pleased to present “Amahl and the Night Visitors” as an opera dessert theatre. This production will be held in the Brandt Center Lobby on Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21, both at 7:30 p.m. Dessert is provided during the performance.

Written by Gian Carlo Menotti in 1951, “Amahl and the Visitors” is set in Bethlehem following the birth of Christ. A single mother and her young son, Amahl, worry for their future until one fateful night. On their way to deliver gifts to the Christ child, three kings stop to rest at this small family’s house. After their encounter, Amahl and his mother will never be the same.

For NNU’s production, Dr. Judy Marlett and Krista Jo Miller are the music director and drama director respectively. The cast includes Krista Niswander (Boise, Idaho), Ashton Palmer (Keizer, Ore.), Matthew Bonner (Nampa, Idaho), B.J. Howard (Nampa, Idaho), Joseph Miller (Nampa, Idaho), Caitlin Carlberg (Caldwell, Idaho), Melissa Walsh (Nampa, Idaho), Carlyn Jones (Nampa, Idaho), Adelaide Turnage (Meridian Idaho) and Braedon Gerdes (Buhl, Idaho).
