NNU celebrates Homecoming & Family Weekend

Last Updated 12 October, 2016

Northwest Nazarene University is gearing up for Homecoming & Family Weekend which will take place November 12 – 14, 2015. Alumni, family and community members are invited to partake in the homecoming festivities while reuniting with old friends and making new ones.

Special events for this year’s Homecoming & Family Weekend include events to honor Crusader Volleyball and Crusader Choir. Former volleyball coach Darlene Brasch and former player Liz Benear Nixon will be inducted in the NNU Hall of Fame at the men’s basketball game on Friday. Saturday brings the Volleyball Reunion Lunch followed by NNU’s match against St. Martin’s University. Don’t miss the parade of volleyball alumni and coaches between sets.

NNU’s Department of Music will also host a Crusader Choir reunion following their concert on Saturday night. The gathering will provide a chance to reminisce with former choir members and various directors, including a time to honor faculty emeritus Dr. Marvin Bloomquist’s 26 years of directing Crusader Choir.

Join us this year as we honor alumni, coaches and professors who helped transform NNU and its people.

In addition to these reunions, there are six opportunities to see the 2015 homecoming play, “The Odd Couple,” in both a male and female version: one show Thursday and Friday, two shows on Saturday and one the following Monday and Tuesday. Directed by Rick Strader, the cast has immense talent and will have you laughing from the opening scene. Show details are available at nnu.edu/homecoming.

Gather with NNU Crusader fans past and present during the men’s basketball game Friday night at 8 p.m. Come early for a pep rally dinner hosted by the Student Government Association beginning at 5:30 p.m., and then watch the coronation of the 2015 Homecoming Court at 7 p.m.

Listening to the talent of the NNU Department of Music on Saturday night is a great way to wrap up the weekend. The first half of the concert will feature performances from NNU’s top ensembles including Bella Voce, Jazz Revival, Concert Band, Northwesterners and Crusader Choir & Orchestra. In the second half of the concert, Crusader Choir alumni will perform under the direction of Dr. Marvin Bloomquist.
