Elmore Hall demolition begins

Last Updated 10 August, 2017

Preparation for a new chapter in Northwest Nazarene University's history is occurring today with the removal of Elmore Hall. The demolition clears the land at the site where the new Student Commons will eventually be constructed.

"Our fundraising efforts for the new Student Commons are still active as we seek to raise the last $1.9 million (of the $16.5 million total) to break ground and begin construction. But, even as we ask alumni and friends to participate in completing this fundraising, we thought it best to undertake this work during the summer so that there is less impact on students and so that we may proceed with construction as soon as our fundraising is complete" said Mark Wheeler, VP for External Relations.

Many of our alumni and campus community members have fond memories of Elmore Hall, which has stood on the NNU campus for 100 years. But we are excited as we prepare for the positive impact the new Student Commons will have on students for generations to come as NNU continues to transform lives in its second century.
