Payton Lewis set the bar high on his track & field career.The freshman from Nampa Christian High earned two NCAA Division II National Championships berths, won three Great Northwest Athletic Conference titles and set five school records during 2014-15.

Lewis set records in the pole vault (17 feet, 0.75 inches), long jump (23-0) and heptathlon (5,075 points) indoors and claimed his first title winning the pole vault at the GNAC Championships in February. His second title came in April at the GNAC Multi-Event Championships, with 16-10.75 in the pole vault and 6,595 points in the decathlon. In May at the GNAC Outdoor Championships, Lewis added another pole vault crown by clearing 16 feet, 10.75 inches to earn First Team NCAA All-American honors and finish fourth in the country in the pole vault.

The star freshman was also named West Region Field Athlete of the Year and took ninth in his first national berth. “God is faithful and good,” Lewis said after becoming the Crusaders 13th track and field All-American. “I’m happy all of the hard work this year paid off.”
