AMA chapter earns award at international conference

Last Updated 6 April, 2016

The School of Business is pleased to announce that NNU’s AMA (American Marketing Association) Collegiate Chapter was a recipient of the exemplary collegiate chapter performance award for outstanding chapter planning at the International AMA Collegiate Conference in New Orleans.

Each year, AMA collegiate chapters from the U.S., Canada and Mexico come together to receive advice from professionals, develop their careers, engage in competitions, network with fellow marketers and have fun. Despite NNU only sending two students to the conference, they were still able to perform exceptionally well and receive an award.

President, Genesis Amador (Nampa, Idaho), and vice president, Carleigh Sturm (Thorton, Colo.), were accompanied by dean of the school of business Dr. Konya Weber, who served as AMA faculty advisor and competition judge. Together, this trio represented NNU’s Collegiate AMA Chapter.

Reflecting on her experience at the conference, Genesis commented, "I am so glad I had the wonderful opportunity to go to the AMA international collegiate conference in New Orleans! It gave me many new ideas to improve our AMA chapter. I am so thankful for all the support from our AMA members and Carleigh. I hope more students will be able to take advantage of this opportunity to learn about new marketing trends from industry experts.”

During the conference, Dr. Konya Weber was elected to serve a 3-year term on the AMA Collegiate Chapters Council based upon the success of NNU’s AMA chapter, which has received 7 awards since 2009, and for her service as judge in various competitions since establishing the NNU’s AMA Collegiate Chapter in 2006.
